Development of cowpea thresher

A cowpea thresher that uses petrol engine was developed to overcome drudgery of threshing with manually operated and also replace motorized cannot be used in areas where there is no supply electricity. The performance tests on the machine were replicated three times using 10000, 8000 6000 grams kannanado pods at cylinder speed 700, 800 900 rpm each moisture contents 11.05%, 13.65% 14.75% respectively based following parameters; Threshing efficiency, throughput capacity percentage seed damage. findings showed had highest efficiency 98% content feed rate 6 kg/hr. maximum observed 46.18 kg/hr 10 kg/hr, 11.05% grain rpm. cleaning damage 93.06% 4.90% observed. This revealed as increased whereas decreased. test high has a tendency reduce mechanical for variety (kannanado) investigated. Therefore, 11.05 % speeds are crop-machine parameters combination optimum performance. satisfactory; small-scale farmers will find more comfort it threshing.
